Amenities
Enjoy Fresh Local Eggs
In the season, we provide all guests with fresh eggs for breakfast, locally produced. The farm is today run by Einar Kartveit’s grand daughter, Gudveig, and her husband Odd Martin, who raises sheep and chicken, in addition to producing Christmas trees. The farm is located next to the guesthouse.
Take a Boat Ride
A nearby lake, Ulvatn, is only a ten minute walk from the guesthouse. The lake is protected from motorized boats and offers true tranquility. You also have the opportunity to fish for Norwegian wild trout, of which the lake offers plenty. Fishing gear is provided to all guests. Additionally, the North Sea is excellent for anglers.
Go Hiking
Radøy Island is commonly called ‘The Green Island’, due to its hilly landscape of farmland and forests. From the guesthouse you can choose from a number of roads and trails available for walking or hiking, for instance, the nearby Kartveit mountain (Kartveitfjellet). More information about hiking can be found in the house’s main living room, or at the map provided by Norwegian Tourist Association.
Explore the Area
Radøy has a variety of attractions from the past and present, like the botanical garden Tjorehagen, the Emigration Centre of Western Norway, including the Emigration Church, the historical buildings at Bogatunet, and the ‘The village in the ocean’, Fedje. The nearby villages Manger and Alversund offer horseback riding, golf and The Heathland Centre. Other activities can be found at Visit Nordhordland.
Appreciate City Life
Bergen, the second biggest city in Norway, is a 45-minute drive away (45 kilometers). The city offers tourist attractions like the UNESCO Heritage site Bryggen, the Bergen Aquarium, the funicular Fløibanen and The Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen. More information about Bergen can be found at Visit Bergen.
Find Tranquility
Kartveit Guesthouse is located away from both sound and light pollution, in the middle of the Norwegian countryside. Find tranquility in nature, the starry sky, or in a book by the fireplace – at Kartveit you will not be disturbed.
